Nevado Ojos del Salado 6.893m

Nevado Ojos del Salado is the highest active volcano in the world, the second highest peak in America after Aconcagua, and the highest summit in Chile. Its last volcanic activity was in 1993, manifesting itself with ash emissions and fumaroles; it is estimated that its last eruption occurred approximately 1,300 years ago.
To reach its summit, you must cross the desert from the city of Copiapó. Along the way, we will see the Lamas River, which originates in the Nevado Tres Cruces Central and flows into the Maricunga salt flat. We will sleep next to the beautiful Laguna Verde, where we will have the option of bathing in its hot springs.
If you have never done high-altitude mountaineering before, you will need at least 14 days for the expedition to be successful. Within this itinerary, we will also reach the summits of Nevado San Francisco (6,016 meters above sea level) and Nevado Tres Cruces Norte (6,060 meters above sea level).


Technical Difficulty: Easy. You have to climb about 20 meters on rock with little difficulty but exposed; in this section, you will use a rope, harness, and belay device.

Responsibilities:

• No actions that jeopardize the safety of the participant or other participants will be carried out.
• Do not consume alcohol or any narcotic drug before or during the activity.

• Before starting this activity, a meeting must be held between guides and participants. The date will be confirmed via WhatsApp or email.

• For groups of 6 people, there will be 3 mountain guides
• Each guide carries a first aid kit, VHF radio, rope, harness, GPS with satellite messaging, lanyards, oximeter, tubular tapes, carabiners, and more.
• This excursion can be completed in fewer days if you are already acclimatized. It is also possible to hire porters; please inquire for more details.
