Activity to be carried out from June to October/November when terrain conditions are safest and weather conditions are favorable.
Cerro Piuquencillo, at 4,047 meters above sea level, is a classic mountaineering destination in the Central Andes, located in the Lagunillas sector, near San José de Maipo in the Metropolitan Region. Its ascent offers great views of mountains such as Tupungato, Mesón Alto, Marmolejo, San José Volcano, Cerro Castillo, among others.
The normal route has an elevation gain of approximately 2,550 meters and a round-trip distance of 28 kilometers, so it is recommended for people who already have experience in long-distance trekking.
Use of crampons and ice axes is essential to reach the summit, but if you have never used them before, the guide will teach you how to use them correctly, as well as self-arrest techniques.
