Urku Expeditions was founded on the mountaineering experience gained by Sebastián Magaña since 2012. He is a current member of the ACHGM (Chilean Association of Mountain Guides), He holds a degree in Adventure Tourism from DUOC UC, has up-to-date first aid training, and has completed courses in ice climbing (ENAM, National Mountain School), winter techniques (ENAM, National Mountain School), basic mountaineering (ENAM, National Mountain School), and the AST1 and CRS avalanche courses (Cordillera Blanca).

Sebastian Magaña has led more than 700 guided ascents of Villarrica Volcano (2,847 m a.s.l.), as well as guided ascents of Lanín Volcano (3,747 m a.s.l.), Cerro Marmolejo (6,108 m a.s.l.), Cerro El Plomo (5,450 m a.s.l.), Cerro Leonera (4,954 m a.s.l.), Llaima Volcano (3,125 m a.s.l.), Cerro San Gabriel (3,125 m a.s.l.), Cerro Piuquencillo (4,047 m a.s.l.), Cerro La Cruz (2,552 m a.s.l.), Cerro Pintor (4,180 m a.s.l.), Quetrupillan Volcano (2,340 m a.s.l.), Nevado Ojos del Salado (6,893 m a.s.l.), Nevado San Francisco (6,016 m a.s.l.), Nevado Tres Cruces Norte (6,030 m a.s.l.), Nevado Sollipulli (2,282 m a.s.l.).
Urku Expediciones (RUT: 77.966.407-4) is a legally registered adventure tourism agency located at 18,830 Comercio Street. We hold accident insurance for our activities. We were granted a business licence as an adventure tourism agency by the municipality of San José de Maipo on 2 October 2024.
We are proud to provide a comprehensive service that includes renting high-quality equipment for every activity, such as ice axes, helmets, crampons, backpacks, mountaineering boots, harnesses, gloves, and more.
Furthermore, to ensure the safety of our clients, we are committed to working exclusively with guides certified by ANGM, UIAGM, UIMLA, ACHGM, ENAM or FEACH. We will limit each expedition to a maximum of six people in order to provide a higher quality service.
