From most of Santiago, you can see Cerro La Paloma with its glacier hanging on its slopes. To reach the summit and return, you have to travel a total of approximately 45 kilometers, making it a challenge for experienced mountaineers or hikers. During the expedition, you will be able to see Mount Aconcagua, the Los Sulfatos waterfall, which is over 100 meters high, and species of high Andean flora such as Vegas, Come tocinos, Chorlitos cordilleranos, Yal Cordilleranos, among other species. The hike begins in Yerba Loca Park in the municipality of Lo Barnechea.

The first ascent of Cerro La Paloma was made in 1912 by the team of Heriberto Trewhela, Félix Mondini, and Ridley Temperley, who used the north slope. Currently, access via this route is not permitted due to the operations of the Los Bronces mine. In 1943, a group consisting of Jorge Alig, Hans Moser, Otto Pfenniger, Richard Keller, and Hugh Powers established the route that is now considered the normal route to the summit: the southern route, via the Rincón Glacier.
